I haven’t had the chance to see one of my best friends Rachel Lahr in awhile due to COVID. She is a nurse at the St.Cloud Hospital and she had been keeping her distance to try and keep her friends and family safe. She came up with this great idea to go kayaking down the Mississippi River. This is a great social distancing activity to do! She found this little family owned company called Clear Water Outfitting Company. They set you up with kayaks based on your skill/ experience level. After you got set up with all of the gear they shuttled you to the starting point based on the package you picked. We bought the 2 hour package from St.Cloud to Clearwater.
Once we arrived at the starting point the Outfitting employee helped us into the water. They gave us a map so we knew exactly where to go. The ride was unbelievably peaceful. You can go as fast or slow and you want and we decided to take our time. We beached our kayaks a couple times to go to the bathroom and have some snacks. We caught up on life, had a couple drinks, laughed a lot and we had an amazing time!
If you are looking for a peaceful, fun social distancing experience this is the way to go. This company did an amazing job and next time we are going to go for the longer excursion! Right now they are only opened Thursday – Sunday so book your appointment!
